Loops MCP server

Connect the Loops MCP server to AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude to manage contacts, events, and transactional email.

The Loops MCP server lets AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude work with your Loops account.

What you can do

Use your AI tool to work with the Loops API, including:

• Contacts: find, create, and update contacts and their properties.
• Mailing lists: check membership and add or remove contacts.
• Events: send events that update contact activity or start published workflows.
• Transactional email: send a published transactional email with data variables.
• Campaigns, workflows, and email content: create and manage campaigns and workflows, and edit email content.

Amp

Amp CLI does not support the MCP server yet. You can install via the web or desktop app first to access it in the CLI.

1. Add the Loops MCP server

   In the Amp web or desktop app, go to MCP server settings and click + Add MCP Server. Enter the URL https://mcp.loops.so, and click Connect.

2. Authenticate

   Follow the prompt to sign in to Loops in your browser.

3. Test the connection

   Ask Amp something like “Which Loops teams am I a part of?” to confirm it can reach your account.

ChatGPT

1. Add the Loops plugin

   Go to Plugins and search for Loops or use this direct link:

   • Loops plugin (web)
   • Loops plugin (desktop)
2. Authenticate

   Click Install plugin and follow the prompt to sign in to Loops in your browser.

3. Test the connection

   Ask ChatGPT something like “Which Loops teams am I a part of?” to confirm it can reach your account.

Claude Code CLI

1. Add the Loops MCP server

   claude mcp add loops https://mcp.loops.so --scope user --transport http
   
2. Authenticate

   Run /mcp inside Claude Code and follow the prompt to sign in to Loops in your browser.

3. Test the connection

   Ask Claude something like “Which Loops teams am I a part of?” to confirm it can reach your account.

Claude

1. Open connector settings

   In Claude, go to Settings → Connectors and click Browse connectors.

2. Add the Loops MCP server

   Search for “Loops” and click the + button to the right. Click the Connect or Add to your team button.

3. Authenticate

   Open the connector and follow the prompt to sign in to Loops in your browser.

4. Test the connection

   Ask Claude something like “Which Loops teams am I a part of?” to confirm it can reach your account.

Codex CLI

Make sure to update to Codex CLI v1.48.0 or later.

1. Add the Loops MCP server

   codex mcp add loops --url https://mcp.loops.so
   
2. Authenticate

   Follow the prompt to sign in to Loops in your browser.

3. Test the connection

   In Codex CLI, ask something like “Which Loops teams am I a part of?” to confirm it can reach your account.

Make sure to update to OpenCode v2.0.4 or later.

Other MCP clients

Add https://mcp.loops.so as a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server. Your client must support OAuth using Client ID Metadata Documents (CIMD). The configuration format depends on your client.

For VS Code 1.106 or later, add this to .vscode/mcp.json in your project:

Follow your client’s authentication prompt to sign in to Loops in your browser and authorize access.

Troubleshooting

​

Your client asks for a client ID or reports a registration error

The Loops MCP server identifies clients using Client ID Metadata Documents (CIMD). Your MCP client supplies its own client ID during sign-in, so Loops has no client ID or client secret for you to enter.

If your client asks you to enter a client ID or secret, it isn’t using CIMD. The same applies if it reports that the server rejected automatic or dynamic client registration. To connect:

• Check that your client version supports OAuth with CIMD and remote Streamable HTTP servers. Update the client if needed.
• Use one of the clients with setup steps on this page, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex CLI, or VS Code 1.106 or later.

Sign-in fails or the connection isn’t authorized

1. Remove the Loops server from your client and add https://mcp.loops.so again.
2. Complete the sign-in prompt in your browser and authorize access.
3. Ask your client “Which Loops teams am I a part of?” to confirm the connection.

If the connection still fails, contact support with your client name, client version, and the exact error message.
